Our Story
Fostering a New Legacy was founded from a simple belief: financial stability should not be reserved for people who were fortunate enough to learn about money early in life.
Too many individuals and families enter adulthood without access to practical financial education or programs designed to help them build lasting financial stability. We have seen people work hard to change their circumstances and break generational cycles, yet continue living paycheck to paycheck because they were never given the knowledge, resources, opportunities, or support needed to create a different path.
Fostering a New Legacy was created to help change that.
We believe education can transform lives, but we also recognize that financial stability is about more than money. Sometimes the path forward begins with financial knowledge. Sometimes it begins with building confidence, developing new skills, preparing for a career, connecting with resources, or simply having someone willing to meet you where you are and help you see what is possible.
We also believe wealth does not have one definition. For one person, wealth may mean building financial assets and creating generational prosperity. For another, it may mean being able to pay the bills without fear, care for their family, enjoy good health, experience peace of mind, or live without measuring success by material possessions. What matters is helping people gain the knowledge, confidence, skills, and opportunities to build greater stability and create the life they envision for themselves and their families.
Our commitment extends across generations. We want young people to have access to financial knowledge early enough to give them a stronger start, while recognizing that it is never too late to change course and work toward greater financial stability. Adults at every stage of life can learn, rebuild, grow, and make choices that create a different future.
That commitment includes youth in foster care and young adults transitioning from foster care. In exploring the resources available to them, our founder recognized gaps in the support and preparation young people may need as they move toward independence. FANL seeks to help close those gaps through education, mentorship, life skills, workforce readiness, financial knowledge, and connections to supportive resources.
Building a new legacy is also not always about starting from nothing. Parents and grandparents have spent lifetimes building homes, businesses, savings, property, knowledge, and other assets with the hope of creating something better for the generations that follow. Without financial knowledge, planning, and preparation, however, what one generation worked to build can be difficult for the next generation to preserve.
Our communities deserve the opportunity not only to build wealth, but to protect, preserve, and pass forward the legacies previous generations worked to create.
At Fostering a New Legacy, we believe where you start does not have to determine where you finish. We meet people where they are and help create pathways toward greater knowledge, confidence, stability, independence, and opportunity.

Fostering a New Legacy, Inc. provides financial literacy education, vocational skills training, workforce readiness development, housing stability resources, and supportive services to individuals and families facing systemic barriers and economic adversity. Through education, experiential learning, mentorship, and community partnerships, we equip people of all generations with the tools necessary to achieve economic self-sufficiency, create pathways to generational wealth, and build lasting legacies for themselves and future generations.

Cynthia Moore
Founder, Fostering a New Legacy
Fostering a New Legacy was founded by Cynthia Moore from a commitment to making financial knowledge, opportunity, and practical resources more accessible to people and communities that have not always had equal access to them.
With more than three decades of experience spanning accounting, technology, education, business operations, and organizational leadership, Cynthia has spent much of her career helping people and organizations understand complex information, strengthen their decision-making, and build systems that support better outcomes.
Her experience as an educator and financial professional reinforced a recurring lesson: information can change outcomes—but only when people have access to it, understand it, and have the confidence and opportunity to use it.
That philosophy became part of the foundation for FANL.
Cynthia's vision for the organization extends from helping young people develop financial knowledge early to supporting adults who are changing course later in life, strengthening pathways for foster youth transitioning toward independence, and helping families preserve and pass forward what previous generations have worked to build.
At the center of that vision is a simple conviction:
People should have the opportunity to build a legacy defined by where they are going—not simply by where they started.
